Services and activities
In recent years, TransEstrie has set up several projects to offer basic services to trans, non-binary and questioning people in the Estrie region.
Please note that we are not an emergency resource. For immediate support, you can contact Interligne, Jevi, the ATQ, or info-santé by dialing 811.
Support
Whether in a group or individually, we offer many support services to trans and non-binary people who are questioning their gender identity, as well as to their parents, loved ones, colleagues or any allies who wish to improve their knowledge of the realities of trans people.
We also organize various activities to break isolation and help build community.
Gender Affirming Items Distribution Resource
The Gender Affirming Items Distribution Resource (RDAAG) provides trans, non-binary, and questioning people with access to products that are not widely available in the area, such as binders, packers, gaffs, and breastforms, which can be vital to our well-being and mental health.
Training and support for professionals and schools
We offer training on a variety of topics related to LGBTQ+ communities in professional and academic settings. We also offer one-on-one guidance to tailor your services to the needs of LGBTQ+ communities.
Legal name and sex designation change
We can swear in name and/or sex designation change applications, and accompany trans and non-binary people who want to fill in these documents.
Information
Born from the Groupe d’action trans de l’Université de Sherbrooke founded in 2016, TransEstrie is a community organization that aims to support, accompany and represent trans and non-binary people in the Estrie region.
Mission
The organization was established from a “by and for” perspective, as we believe that the people best positioned to develop services and advocate for trans, non-binary and questioning people in the Estrie region are those who identify with these identities. We do not believe that there is one single way to be trans or non-binary and we work to reflect the diversity of our backgrounds through our administration, our employees and our services.
